MPOC Bloggers Meet – July 2019

It was indeed a huge privilege for me and the other food/lifestyle bloggers to have a rendezvous with the Honourable Minister of Malaysian Primary Industries – Madam Teresa Kok Suh Sim on 31st July 2019 in Mumbai. The agenda for organizing this interactive session was to create awareness about the benefits of using Red Palm Oil.

It was indeed an insightful meet and I came to know about several health benefits of using Red Palm Oil. It was quite surprising to me that Red Palm Oil is rich in some vital nutrients which are needed by a human body! And not only this, this is quite a budget-friendly vegetable oil in comparison to any other edible oil.

OTHER SURPRISING FACTS OF RED PALM OIL

  • Palm oil, though being a vegetable oil, is cholesterol-free.

  • In its virgin form, it is deep orange-red in colour. Palm oil is rich in carotenoids and Vitamin E.

  • Due to the presence of solid fats, it is Trans-Fatty Acid-free. This makes it a healthier option.

  • It is also a nutritious oil, as it supplies some important fat-soluble micronutrients to your body.

  • Palm Oil is a rich source of calories also. One gram of palm oil gives 9 Kcal of energy.

BLOGGERS MEET

The bloggers meet started with an introduction speech of Ms Bhavna Shah – Country Representative of MPOC, India and Sri Lanka. The introduction speech included the history of Palm Oil, its cultivation and use in daily life. She also described how this oil is cost-effective in nature in comparison to any other vegetable oil. In continuation of her speech, she also mentioned how Malaysia is really working so positively towards the healthy and sustainable cultivation of Palm oil.

Further, she introduced Madam Teresa Kok Suh Sim, the Honourable Minister of Primary Industries, Malaysia, with other dignitaries of Malaysian Palm Oil Council.

It was indeed a golden opportunity for all of us to get all our doubts and questions to be answered by the senior officials of MPOC.

On the arrival of the Honourable Minister, Madam Teresa Kok Suh Sim, the environment became more comfortable and interactive as well. She interacted and answered every question with full enthusiasm and joy. She was humble and polite. Along with her, the other distinguished members, who were present in this blogger’s awareness meet, were also very enthusiastic and took every question very positively. They were

  • Datuk Dr. Kalyana Sundaram – The CEO of MPOC.

  • Zainal Azlan Mohd Nadzir - Consul General of Malaysia, Mumbai.

  • Dato’Lee Yeow Chor – Chairman of MPOC.

  • Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir – Deputy DG Malaysian Palm Oil Board.

Overall, my experience was very good and I was happy to know several positive aspects of using Red Palm oil in our daily diet. All my doubts and questions were answered and I came back home with all positivity in mind for this ingredient.

The event ended with a really cool contest, wherein the bloggers had to complete a jingle for the Red Palm Oil and for that the winners will get a trophy. It was so fun to be a part of this contest however I was not among the winners. Nevertheless, I enjoyed every bit of this event.

I convey my best wishes to the entire big family of Malaysian Palm Oil Council and would like to thank for conducting this bloggers awareness meet in Mumbai.
