Which are the best bathing soaps for baby

The best baby soaps are listed in this blog along with their reviews.

Choosing the best bathing soap for a baby can be very confusing. Every brand claims itself to be the best on the baby skincare range although this is may not be correct always. Sometimes, certain baby soaps are not so gentle and mild on baby skin as claimed resulting in rashes, rough and dry skin. Therefore, do not be driven by those cute advertisements, and promising claims of the brands. Choose the baby skincare products wisely. Check the ingredients list at first, and make sure it does not have the following harsh ingredients -

SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) - SLS is a cheap and harsh chemical which is often used by the manufacturers as a cleansing and foaming agent. It can be seen in a higher concentration. It can make skin rough, and dry. In other words, SLS is harmful to the skin.

Artificial Fragrance - The artificial fragrance are the chemical compounds which are found in essential oils and are potent and concentrated, and hence these artificial perfumes for babies harmful. They may cause skin irritation and respiratory distress. Therefore, do not prefer fragrance-based bathing soaps for babies.

SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulphate) - It is an inexpensive and effective foaming agent. It is present in the majority of personal care products, however, it can irritate eyes, harm your skin and even lungs, if being used for the long-term.

PEG 80 Sorbitan Laureate - PEG is an abbreviation of Polyethylene Glycol. It functions as a fragrance agent as well as a cleansing agent. There are strong pieces of evidence that it is allergic to the skin and may cause skin irritation and rashes. Although it is not potentially toxic or harmful, still it is moderately hazardous to the baby skin.

Paraben - It is one of the most surprising facts that there are several brands that use parabens as one of the ingredients in their skincare products. Parabens are a group of preservatives that are used in several cosmetic and personal care products. They are highly toxic and carcinogenic too.

Now coming to the question that which are the best bathing soaps for the baby if the above ingredients are to be avoided. And which are the safe baby soaps? So, being a mother, I would say that "safe" criteria cannot be answered impulsively. As baby skin is vulnerable to several skin-related issues. Furthermore, the pH level of the skin gets always disturbed by using such commercial products. Still, I am listing down some of the baby soaps which are not only good but also safer than the others.

1. SEBAMED BABY CLEANSING BAR

Sebamed is a Germany based company established in 1971. According to my knowledge and experience, this is one of the best cleansing bars for the babies. It works according to the pH level 5.5 of the skin preventing any skin rash or dryness. Furthermore, it makes the baby skin softer and supple keeping it nourished and moisturised throughout the day. It does not irritate the eyes as well. It is mild and gentle for the baby's skin. Its baby products are clinically proven to be mild and dermatologically tested. I highly recommend this cleansing bar for the babies. Click BUY if you want to have it for your little one.

2. BABY DOVE RICH MOISTURE SOAP

I started using Baby Dove Rich Moisture soap on my daughter's skin when I realised that her soft skin is getting more rough and dry. Despite that old good brand, I was not getting the desired softness on my daughter's skin texture. So, I thought for a change in my baby's bathing soap and body lotion. I bought this baby soap from the nearest medical store, and guess what? I was delighted just after 5 days of its use. My daughter's skin was smooth, soft and moisturised for the entire day. Hence after, I started using this baby soap for my kids irrespective of the weather. It is not only suitable during the winters, but also during the summers. It gets creamy when applied on a wet body but rinses off quickly without using the gallons of water. As it claims, it is milder and more moisturising than any other baby soap. You can BUY this baby soap for your little one without any second thought.

3. MAMAEARTH MOISTURIZING BABY BATHING SOAP

I am writing about this soap after getting an honest review from one of my cousins. Her 5 months old baby was experiencing lots of rashes and itching too. The condition seemed to be like Eczema. The skin was turning to be drier day by day. Somebody suggested her to use Mamaearth Moisturizing Baby Bathing Soap, and so she did. So, after using it for days on her baby's skin along with some oral syrups, she noticed some improvement on her baby's skin. Henceforth, she did not stop using this baby soap for her kiddo and recommend this to everyone.

4. CURATIO BAJAJ TEDIBAR SOAP

I had once received the sample piece of this baby soap from our Pediatrician. I was sceptical to try this soap initially, as I did not hear about it before. But, I thought to give it a try as it has been suggested by the doctor. The packaging was cute indeed but I found Tedibar soap a bit of costly in comparison to the quantity offered. However, my daughter did not experience any rashes, nor any other skin-related problems. This soap is mild and contains no harsh and toxic chemicals. It comes along with a tray to prevent its melting due to wetness. This baby soap is effective in delivering the desired results. You can BUY this soap through Amazon.

5. CHICCO BABY MOMENTS SOAP

Although I have not used Chicco Baby Moments Soap, I have heard lots of good reviews from my friends. According to them, this soap is good and mild enough for daily use. It does not make baby skin rough and dry. It helps in maintaining the softness of the baby skin. It is free from Parabens, Dyes and Alcohol. The only con with this baby soap is irritability to the eyes. So one has to be careful about the eyes while applying this baby soap to the babies.
